Giving through a retirement account
Would you like to maximize your charitable giving? You may not be aware that giving from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) can be a great strategy to do just that.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from IRAs, also known as a Charitable IRA Rollovers, made directly to a qualified charity like Lutheran Services Carolinas, can help you avoid income tax on those QCDs. In addition, the QCD counts toward your required minimum distribution.
Be aware that there are some restrictions, including the requirement that the IRA owner must be 70 ½ or older. Also, QCDs are currently limited to a maximum of $100,000 annually.
If you would like to learn more about giving to Lutheran Services Carolinas from an IRA, or from a 401(k) or 403(b) account, please contact Chief Development Officer Heidi Rixman at 704-603-1701 or hrixman@lscarolinas.net.
