LSC receives two Lowe’s Reconstruction Grants

By September 7, 2022No Comments

Lutheran Services Carolinas (LSC) recently received two Lowe’s Reconstruction Grants for its disaster response program.

The first grant provided $11,000 in Lowe’s gift cards and $1,540 for administrative expenses for South Carolina; and the second provided $11,000 in Lowe’s gift cards and $1,540 for administrative expenses for North Carolina.

The 2022 Lowe’s Reconstruction Grant is made possible through a generous donation from Lowe’s and is designed for reconstruction material supplies in recovery and ongoing response projects across the United States and its territories. This gift has allowed National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) to offer this innovative grant project to National VOAD members.

South Carolina has been impacted by several major disasters (historic flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes) since 2015. LSC has been working in affected communities assisting with disaster case management and recovery/rebuilding efforts for the last six years. LSC seeks to continue to assist the most vulnerable households, including low-income, elderly, disabled, and single parent survivors.

North Carolina has been devastated by numerous hurricanes and other disasters over the last six years and thousands of people have been impacted by these back-to-back events. LSC has been working in affected communities assisting with disaster case management and recovery and rebuilding efforts since 2016.

The gift cards will be used to purchase building materials and appliances to help disaster survivors in both states.
